10 Quick Development Tools

When in a rush, you don’t always have time to open up your preferred graphics application or spend hours sifting through style sheets. Below I have constructed a list of 10+ tools that will aid you when developing in a rush. Some tools, that do take time to use I included anyway as I believe they are a great resource.

1. Stripe Generator

Is one of my favorite tools available on the web, you can generate tillable graphics in the form of gradients and stripes and customization is completely your choice. A great tool when needing a gradient on the fly.

2. BgPatterns

A similar tool to stripe generator however you create repeatable patterns using preset images and background texture, many adjustable features and a great tool to add to your collection.

3. Creatr

I am not a fan of these tools whatsoever, but occasionally you have no other choice.. Need a quick way to generate a ‘Web 2.0′ logo- this is your tool.

4. Image Tool

Same as before, however Image Tool generates slightly more professional looking logos when In a rush. Also useful for logo mockups as placeholders when sketching.

5. Typetester

Need to set your font’s quickly? Typetester is a great tool that allows you to adjust your fonts and has a live preview with dummy text, when ready you can download a stylesheet with your configuration.

6. Editpad

Editpad is as basic as it gets, an online text editor with the ability to save your files to your hard-drive.. I’m sure there are better alternatives, but it’s light weight, can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.

7. Converticon

Quick and awesome conversion of common image files into ico or png format, all online and no software required- I highly recommend you bookmark this one.

8. Color Scheme Designer

Sometimes I just cant find a color that matches another, Color Scheme Designer provides so much information for a color, the features are endless. Another great tool.

9. Gomockingbird

Got a design floating around in your head, use Gomockingbird to quickly sketch it out online with this wire-frame tool, has your common web shapes and is surprisingly fast.

10. ColourLovers

Another color tool, contains thousands of pallets and a great color search tool, perfect when you need a color scheme and quick.
